5 Beauty Products that left me with Buyer’s Remorse

I like to think that I’m quite a conscious buyer, i.e. I do my research first before buying a product regardless of how cheap or expensive the product is and wait a few days or even weeks to see if I really want it. There are a few occasions where I make impulse purchases because the products are either discounted or I have seen them hyped about on social media. Today, I wanted to talk about a few of these impulse purchases I made recently and why I regret them.

»  L’oreal Paris Hydra Fresh Fresh Anti – OX Grape Seed Hydrating Spa Water

I got this and the aqua balm mentioned below in a set after having tried the Mask – In Lotion from the same L’oreal skincare line in a sample. I really enjoyed the lotion as a serum and it helped my skin feeling plump and moisturised after it was feeling rough a few months ago. I figured I would buy this set since it was from the same L’oreal line but these products just didn’t work for me. After having tried nearly half of the bottle, the spa water didn’t do much for my skin, it smells very fragrant and not in a good way, a bit artificial even.

»  L’oreal Paris Hydra Fresh Fresh Anti – OX Grape Seed Hydrating Aqua Balm

This aqua balm has again that same overly fragrant artificial scent that I can’t get over and I’m not very susceptible to scents. The balm feels very thick on the skin and I just feel that it’s sitting on top and not doing anything to help hydrate my skin, it only looks hydrated. After testing it out for a few weeks I also noticed my skin started getting more texture and it was feeling drier than usual, so this is a pass.

»  Byphasse Micellar Water

I’ve stopped using micellar waters a while ago but wanted to give this a try for the sake of trying this brand. This is one of the best micellar waters I’ve found to remove my makeup, however, I don’t like the scent of it and it leaves my skin super tacky and that tackiness just won’t go away. I have actually used up quite a bit as a spot-clean for brushes and removing makeup where I might have dropped it, which is the best use I can find for it now without it going to waste.

»  Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol – Free Toner "Rose Petal"

I’m sure that anyone who is within the beauty community knows how much this toner is raved about by so many people. I see it everywhere and so, of course, I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I don’t know whether there’s a difference in the formula between this rose petal version and the regular one or if it’s just the scent, but this toner didn’t really do much for me either. It doesn’t leave my skin dry, but it doesn’t really do anything else for my skin.

»  L’oreal La Palette Nude Rose

Another palette that was hyped about way back when and I finally got it, because it was on sale. To be honest, I don’t really buy drugstore eyeshadow palettes unless it is on sale because I know I’d probably be disappointed and this was for sure the case. The colours aren’t that pigmented so most shades don’t really show up on my skin tone. They blend out ok, I’ve seen worse but I do think the Maybelline City Mini palettes blend out better and are more worth it for your money. Overall this palette was average, I don’t reach for it but it’s not that bad that I’d want to throw it out either.
