6 All Time Drugstore Favourites for Summer Time

I generally don’t like wearing too much makeup during summer time, especially when I’m at the beach or spending the whole day outside when it’s humid. The less makeup I have on, the less I have to worry about it ending up in places where I don’t want it to. Nevertheless, I’d still leave the house with the bare minimum at least so that I look a bit more polished and definitely not too tired. Today’s post is all about my 6 favourite drugstore products that I have loved over the years especially during the summer time.

1.     L’oreal Lucent Magique Pure Light Primer

Overall this product is one of the best drugstore primers if you’re looking a glow without overly doing it. While I’m not the biggest fan of applying this primer all over my face as I feel that it clogs my pores, I love using it only on the high points of my face before foundation and if I want to feel extra illuminated, I’ll spray a bit of fix + on a brush or any other hydrating spray and mix it with the primer then pat it on over my foundation. It leaves me looking naturally highlighted without the glitters that powders can leave.

2.     Bourjois Bronzing Powder Shade 52

Besides the fact that it smells like chocolate, this bronzer gives a beautiful sun-kissed look. I love using this during the summer because it does have hint of shimmer in it. Normally I don’t like shimmer in my bronzer but as the shimmer is very subtle and the colour itself isn’t too pigmented nor too orange or grey, it looks like you have a natural glowing tan.

3.     Sleek Blush by 3 CALIFORN.I.A 370

No bronzed look is complete without a bit of blush. This cream blush palette is super affordable and pigmented but it will sheer out quite a bit. Depending on the intensity you want, you can build it up easily without looking heavy. When I first got the palette, I didn’t use it all too much because it has two shimmer shades and one matte and I only used the matte shade. These days, I’m using all three shades and the shimmery ones are typically used as a highlight during night time. Despite that the colour will fade after a few hours, it’s very easy to reapply and blend into your makeup even if you powdered your face by patting it in. Overall it gives me a nice natural looking flush.

4.     Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

As someone that goes through concealers faster than anything else in my makeup kit, this product is my staple. The creamy formula, the coverage and wear time is incredible for the price that you pay. It honestly beats some of my higher end concealers and as it’s light weight, this is a great concealer to go for during summer time.

5.     Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate No. 03

Every since I’ve tried the Kate lipsticks, I have been loving them. It has a nice creamy formula, doesn’t dry my lips out and the colour selection is fantastic. The lipstick isn’t transfer proof but it’s pigmented and leaves a shine. Even when I apply a bit of powder onto my lips for a more matte finish, it wouldn’t dry my lips out and the shade No. 3 is a perfect nude for me.  Unfortunately, I do have to use it sparingly as Rimmel doesn’t sell here in HK.

6.     Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect Waterproof

The drugstore offers so many great mascaras that if you’re looking to save some cash, buy your mascaras at your local drugstore. I’m personally a big fan of the Lash Sensational because it lengthens my lashes and gives a natural look while still holding the curl. Especially during the summer when I’m opting for a no makeup makeup look, this is my go to and of course I had to get the waterproof version for summer time.

That’s it for today, hope you enjoyed it and if you have other drugstore go to’s for summer time I’d love to discover some more. Tomorrows post is all about my hair care routine, see you then!
